NetSupport DNA v4.9 has now been released !

New Features in v4.9

Multi-select Agents

IT technicians across a school now have a more flexible and efficient way to carry out specific tasks on multiple staff/student devices.
From the Tree view, you can select the staff/students you need and then view the component data for them, e.g. looking at the items such as application usage statistics, the memory status of the devices or even the eSafety keywords.
To drill down even more, from Explorer mode, you can select a group of staff/students based on a more detailed criteria (e.g. a combination of departments/year groups, or a group/individual staff and/or student) to perform actions such as messaging – saving time and delivering extra convenience for technicians.

New safeguarding enhancements

Internet risks and trends are constantly changing and, to keep students safe, NetSupport DNA’s Safeguarding Suite now has two new categories (Gambling and Cybersecurity) to help safeguarding staff see any related triggered events more quickly.
Safeguarding staff can also add notes to all triggered events (not just the false positives), such as details of any follow-up actions and more – perfect for ensuring other safeguarding staff are kept updated.

PowerShell for multiple Agents

Whether it’s running PowerShell cmdlets or getting the processes that are running on local or remote devices, NetSupport DNA now allows technicians to run PowerShell commands on multiple devices simultaneously – cutting workload and making the task more efficient.

Chrome and iOS Agents can now connect through the DNA Gateway

Providing more flexibility for schools and their staff/students using school devices, Chrome and iOS devices can connect to NetSupport DNA through its secure Gateway. So whether users with these types of devices are on or off site, technicians can still fully monitor and support them – perfect for working/learning from home.

NetSupport Manager v14

New features and enhancements includes:

NetSupport Manager v14.02 update includes:

  • You can now blank the Client’s screens, while performing a view. The Client side will blank while the Control can continue to see their screen.
  • The latest NetSupport School components are now included. Read more here. These are included for FREE within NetSupport Manager – perfect for training and onboarding.
  • To improve out of the box security, User Acknowledgment is now turned on by default for new installs only.
*Please note this is for Windows only – other platform support for these features will follow soon.

A brand-new user interface

makes it even easier to identify and navigate to features – all in one click. Co-produced directly with businesses to meet their current and changing needs, its intuitive layout in a ribbon bar format at the top makes completing tasks quicker without getting buried in extra unnecessary steps, while the updated icons for each tool make it really clear what capabilities and criteria can be applied.
For example:

  • The status bar now shows a list of all connected Clients, allowing you to see who you are connected to at a glance.
  • A search facility has been added to the Control and Client Configurators, allowing you to easily locate the settings you are looking for.
  • You can now specify the action performed when double-clicking a Client in the List view. By default, this is set to viewing a Client.
  • The Tree view can now be hidden, allowing more space when working with Clients in the List view. You can also choose to display the Tree view in Compact Mode, which eliminates the need to use the scroll bar when viewing folders containing many items.
  • PowerShell and Remote Command Prompt have been added to the right click menu, making them more accessible.
  • Applications can now be quickly launched at Clients while you are viewing them.

Two-factor authentication

(2FA) is now available for operators connecting to the Gateway to start a remote connection. This extra layer of security uses time-based OTP (TOTP) or DUO Push to authenticate the operator for up to 12 hours.
To further strengthen Client authentication and authorisation across the network, NetSupport Manager now supports businesses using RADIUS authentication – and even allows them to use it in combination with 2FA, according to the level of verification required for a specific Client.

SSL/TLS certificates

have been added for superior data security to help ensure that all data sent across the Gateway is encrypted. Customers can enter their own certificate or allow the Gateway to create and use a Let’s Encrypt certificate. Plus, the Control Gateway key, Security keys and Operator passwords have also been boosted with higher levels of encryption.

If the name of the Client executable changes,

it will be prevented from running, to help combat and protect against exploits and malware – a handy feature to ensure no untoward activity is taking place.

Load Balancing Gateways

Introduced to accommodate the ever-changing work landscape. These proactively manage the incoming connections, distributing them across multiple gateways to avoid a single point of failure. Customers can specify the capacity of each load balancing gateway and, in the event that one of them goes down, connections are automatically redistributed, thereby minimising any disruption. This is especially useful for larger businesses, as it ensures consistent maximum performance and reliability without the need for operator intervention.

The Connectivity Server Console data can now be exported to a .csv file

to aid further analysis – and to support security, an Export Function can create a file showing all connected clients.

Platform support has been extended

Windows 11, 11 SE and Windows Server 2022 to further futureproof your technology.

Version 5.1 Out now!

New features include….

Improved recipient selection

When sending a notification, the selecting of recipients is now much clearer and easier via an update to its user interface. It’s also quicker to select the recipients, thanks to some behind-the-scenes performance enhancements.

Sending notification to offline staff

When sending a notification, offline staff can now be selected to receive the notifications that have been sent to them. When the offline staff return ‘online’ and log-onto their device, they will receive the notifications that have been sent over the past 48 hours. This is particularly useful for helping staff coming back from holiday, for example, to catch-up on or be reminded of any messages that were sent whilst they were away.

Details in History view

In the History view, the sender’s machine name and IP address are included in the details recorded for ‘emergency response’ type notifications (sent via a hotkey combination). For a standard notification, the IP address of the sender will also now be included in the History view.

Default ‘Sent to’ method

When sending a notification, instead of defaulting to the server option, NetSupport Notify will now remember the last chosen option (e.g. departments) and automatically select it for you. You can also set the default ‘Sent to’ method as department or server.

Sender’s name

When receiving a notification, at the bottom, it will now include the sender’s name. This is handy for better understanding the nature of the message and its urgency. However, this can be turned off, and so notifications can also be sent anonymously.

Recipients of scheduled messages

You can now see the list of recipients for an existing scheduled notification – perfect for checking if anyone needs adding or removing from it.

Shortcuts

We’ve made it even quicker and easier to customise your notification by adding in formatting shortcuts for bold, italic and/or underline formatting. For example, ‘Ctrl+B/I/U’ to turn on/off character formatting.
