NetSupport Notify has a completely refreshed user interface. As alerts tend to be sent out as the result of a pressured situation, it’s now even easier for a sender to find and quickly navigate to the functionality they need, with ‘one click’ access to features.
Scalable to the largest of organisations, the Notification server now supports 10000 Agents, helping larger companies or multi-academy trusts, for example, to communicate quickly and easily to large numbers of staff and/or students.
Senders can now choose the size and location of the alert that appears on the recipients’ screens, allowing them to adjust the level of impact the alert has. For example, emergency evacuation messages may be set to fill a full screen, whereas an alert about the mail server being down can be smaller and more discreet. This also helps ensure the alert is proportionate to the size of the monitor.
When sending a ‘Full Screen’ alert, an ‘OK’ button can be displayed instead of the timeout function. This allows the recipient to not only confirm they have received and read the alert (rather than the sender assuming they have), but to dismiss the message immediately once seen, helping to quicken the response time.
Adding to its existing multi-platform capabilities, NetSupport Notify now includes support for Chromebooks to help organisations to communicate effectively across the various platforms they have in use.

To enable recipients to read and acknowledge alerts even more quickly, the whole message can now be made visible when sending a notification (instead of recipients having to use a scroll bar to view the entire text).
Emergency response alerts are now shown in the history list (by default) and alerts can now be pinned to the top to make it easier to find and re-use important ones. The pinned alerts will always remain at the top of the list, regardless of any date search.

This allows the recipient to not only confirm they have received and read the alert (rather than the sender assuming they have), but to dismiss the message immediately once seen, helping to quicken the response time.
In addition to sending notifications using Active Directory, notifications can also be sent to IP ranges – handy for organisations with dispersed networks.
NetSupport Notify can be further customised to fit seamlessly within your organisation and its needs. The font and text size in each message can be changed to fit with your branding – plus, you can create your own set of message type icons (using your own text, fonts and colour) to suit the types of messages you wish to send out.
In addition to ‘News, Message, Alert, Technical, Critical’ message types, two new message types (Health and Security) have been added to help you further prioritise messages that may contain related information. For example, in a message related to ‘Health’, it may remind users to use hand sanitiser or to maintain social distancing.
Within NetSupport DNA, the school IT team can conduct a two-way audio chat session between any number of selected staff or students in full audio mode. Its extended audio support allows one-way talk, listen or full bi-directional audio conversations, as well as seamless streaming of the remote PC’s audible application sounds. A handy tool for providing further support to users – from any location, to any location and without the need to use a phone or 3rd party chat tools.
When using the software distribution tool to deploy software across the school or to publish software to targeted users (allowing them to ‘pull’ it onto their device), IT teams can now view, via a handy report, whether there were any errors during the install or if the applications were installed successfully. This new feature helps ensure that all staff/students have all the required applications and quickly highlights if any users are missing or have not installed available apps, thereby boosting productivity levels. They can also manage automatic retries for packages that have failed to be delivered.
To help safeguarding leads and members of staff to keep track of which triggered keywords need reviewing (or to let supporting staff know where to pick up if others are on holiday), all new triggers are highlighted as being 'new', and when staff are reviewing them, they can be marked as 'in progress' or 'complete'. Each status has a different colour code and users can filter the main view to only show certain statuses (i.e. only show new triggers).
IT teams can choose how NetSupport DNA gets updated across their school: automatically updating via a smart update or by an external method, such as GPO or SSCM. This new enhancement helps put the team in control of how and when they want updates to go live.
Several additional optimisations have also been included in this latest release, making NetSupport DNA even easier to use – while bringing further efficiency savings, boosts to productivity levels and security, plus much more, to schools globally! For example, NetSupport DNA now supports up to 10,000 devices, there are new approval requests for USB devices not encrypted with BitLocker, improved Active Directory user profile evaluation – and much more.
To assist schools returning to the ‘new normal,’ a new AUP is available to use (Health and Social Distancing), helping to promote any new guidance and safety information across the school - perfect for supporting the school’s risk assessment.
Student Feedback mode To gauge feedback from the students, there are several visual indicators to choose from. Once the option has been selected, a dialog box opens to allow the teacher to enter the question and then send it to the class. The chosen visual, along with the teacher’s question, will then appear on the students’ PCs so they can make their selections.
Easy mode As schools continue to invest in edtech, it’s important there are as few barriers to its use as possible. With this in mind, NetSupport School ensures its features and functions are accessible to all teaching staff – regardless of their tech experience and knowledge – with its three modes for using the Tutor Console’s user interface: Easy, Intermediate and Advanced. The new ‘Easy’ mode allows technology-shy teachers to only see and use the core tools needed to maintain control over the class – supporting simplicity and ease of use.
